Technology continues to give golfers a chance to score better and enjoy their games more. One of the latest examples of that comes not in the form of a new ball or club, but rather in a next-generation GPS smart watch.
Dubbed the SkyCaddie LX5, and made by SkyGolf, it has a large (1.39 inches), bright color touchscreen. And the product uses the same technology found in the handheld SX rangefinders they also offer.
This watch is driven by a powerful, multicore processor and is endowed with a simple interface. As for the IntelliGreen and HoleVue features they boast, those allow players to discern distances and see everything between them and the greens while also receiving optimum lines of attack and what is needed to clear and avoid various hazards. And in high definition, no less.
“The LX5 is packed with stroke-saving technology and delivered with the largest and most brilliant color display in a golf watch today,” says Jacqui Surman, senior vice president and chief operating officer of SkyGolf, which makes SkyCaddie products. “The LX5 includes most of the dynamic features that golfers rave about in our award-winning SX500 and SX400 handhelds, giving you the most accurate information conveniently located on your wrist. It’s also lightweight and looks great, making it a versatile watch for everyday use on and off the course.”
Pre-loaded with more than 35,000 ground-verified, full-color HD course maps, the LX5 is water resistant and comes with a high-capacity, rechargeable, Li-Polymer battery that lasts up to two rounds and more than three days in time mode. The watch is designed to provide robust wireless connectivity, and in addition to helping golfers play a round the LX5 enables them to keep score and track stats such as total putts, fairways hit or missed and greens in regulation.
